She arrived in Karachi on October 11, 2024, intending to marry a local man, Nidal Ahmed Memon, whom she met online. However, after being abandoned by him and facing significant emotional distress, Robinson’s mental state reportedly deteriorated following a tumultuous series of events.

Robinson’s stay was marked by challenges. After being rejected by Memon’s family, she camped outside his apartment for nearly 30 hours before moving to a shelter and later being admitted to the psychiatric ward at Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC). Her visa expired on November 10, but she refused to return home initially.

The situation gained public attention after local activist Zaffar Abbas highlighted it on social media. Sindh Governor Kamran Khan Tessori intervened by extending her visa and arranging her return. However, Robinson initially resisted leaving.

Eventually, with persuasion from US Consulate staff and medical clearance from JPMC doctors who diagnosed her with bipolar affective disorder (BPAD), Robinson agreed to return home.

Her departure marked the end of an unusual saga that captivated both Pakistani media and international attention due to its dramatic nature involving online deception and cultural differences.
