Usman Buzdar, Imran Khan’s front man in Punjab, quits politics

Former Punjab chief minister requests "all stakeholders to exit their parties and think for the better future of Pakistan".

Usman Buzdar, Imran Khan’s frontman in Punjab, announces to quit politics on Friday in the aftermath of the May 9 violent riots.

Former Punjab chief minister Usman Buzdar said, “First of all, I condemn the May 9 incidents. The military installations which were targeted were properties of the state of Pakistan and I believe we should avoid such incidents.”

Addressing a presser in Lahore, Buzdar said, “I have always committed to politics of nobility […] but due to the current circumstances, I have decided to quit politics.”

The now-former PTI leader called on all stakeholders to reach a consensus and asked the authorities to release all those who were innocent from jail.

“I want to request all the stakeholders to set aside their ego, exit their parties and work for a better future of Pakistan,” the former chief minister, once considered to be close to PTI Chairman Imran Khan, said.
