Watch: UK envoy leaves everyone surprised with speaking Urdu beautifully

British High Commissioner to Pakistan Dr Christian Turner has left everyone in surprise when he beautifully spoke Urdu in a talk show on Tuesday.

Turner, while appearing as a guest in anchor Hamid Mir’s show “Capital Talk” on Geo News, expressed his love for Pakistani cities and foods.

The UK high commissioner was speaking to famous anchor Hamid Mir in the show when he revealed he was fond of Karachi’s biryani saying  it was “Boht mazedaar (very delicious)”.

The envoy had also made some interesting revelations and that too, in Urdu. “Well, I should say first of all, Pakistan boht khoobsurat hai (Pakistan is very beautiful),” he said, much to Mir’s delight. “Meri Urdu kharab hai. Thodi jaanta hun.” (My Urdu is bad, I know a little of it).”

Turner, in a response to Mir’s question, as to when Pakistan can host English cricketers on its home soil, he said,”Ahista ahista (slowly, slowly). We will take small steps [towards it],” he added.

Adding to the delight of Lahoris, Turner in the show agreed to the old saying “Lahore Lahore Hai (Lahore is Lahore)” and said when he visited the Old City all he had done for three days was eating.

On speaking Urdu in the sweetest way, anchor Hamid Mir told the envoy that the next time he comes to the show, he would like to conduct Turner’s entire interview in Urdu to which he replied: “In Sha’Allah” (if God wills).
