Bilal Bin Saqib, a renowned expert in blockchain and Web3 technologies, has been appointed as the Chief Adviser to the Finance Minister on the Pakistan Crypto Council.

This appointment marks a significant step towards Pakistan’s integration of digital assets into its financial system.

Bilal holds a Master’s degree in Social Innovation and Entrepreneurship from the London School of Economics (LSE). He has been recognized globally for his contributions, including being featured in Forbes’ ’30 Under 30′ list and receiving an MBE (Member of the British Empire) in 2023 for his contributions to the UK’s National Health Service.

 

As a prominent figure in the blockchain sector, Bilal has represented Pakistan at several international events such as NFT NYC, the World Economic Forum, ETH Barcelona, and Token 2049. He is also the founder of Tayaba Organisation, a non-profit organization focused on providing water access to deprived communities.

Notably, his organization was the first Pakistani NGO to raise funds via an NFT fundraiser.

In his new role, Bilal will play a crucial part in shaping Pakistan’s regulatory framework for digital assets. He will advise on integrating blockchain and cryptocurrency technologies into the country’s financial ecosystem while exploring AI applications to enhance government efficiency.

This move underscores Pakistan’s commitment to embracing emerging technologies while ensuring a secure and transparent financial system.

A press release issued by the Finance Division said Saqib’s appointment as chief adviser “reaffirms Pakistan’s commitment to embracing technological advancement while ensuring sound policy measures that support the national economy, digital transformation, and a secure, transparent financial system for all”.
