Woman gang raped on Motorway, Gujjarpura police limits
A woman was gang-raped on the Motorway late Tuesday night reportedly within Gujjarpura police limits.
As being reported, a woman with her two children was on her way to Gujranwala in a car. She had to stop at the Gujjarpura section of the Motorway after running out of fuel at around 1.30 am.
She called a relative and sent him her location and was asked by her relative to also dial the Motorway Police helpline 130.
Reportedly two armed men, who found the woman alone, approached the car, broke the car window glass and took her and her children to a nearby field at gunpoint, and gang-raped her in front of the children.
In the latest development, Punjab government spokesperson Mussarat Cheema on Thursday said that the police arrested 12 men suspected of involvement in the alleged gang-rape of a woman on the Lahore-Sialkot motorway.
Mr. Cheema said in a tweet on Thursday said that Punjab Police and related departments were “working in close coordination to capture those involved in [the] painful motorway incident”.
“So far 12 suspects have been arrested and search is going on,” he added.
