Based on 1998 animated movie Mulan, the upcoming release Mulan (live action) released its first teaser yesterday and like all 20 something years old, we are beyond excited!
Mulan when it came in late 90s might have been considered too ‘fairytale-ish’ for it’s time. Revolving around the legend of Hua Mulan, a Chinese girl who breaks the chain of patriarchy in a conservative community, the film spoke loud and clear of the message it wanted to convey its young audiences.
It is now 21 years later, the movie is finally adapted as a live action and in accordance to the grown awareness of women empowerment, Mulan perfectly fits in the theme of 2019.
The first look of the movie has left us thrilled as we find a complete package of action, drama and cinematic marvel in the short span of teaser. From the looks of it, the movie will work along the same storyline as that of its animated version, and we for one are rooting for the apt improvisation of the movie that all 90s kids relate to.
Directed by Niki Caro and starring Yifei Liu alongside Donnie Yen, Jason Scott Lee, Yoson An, Gong Li, and Jet Li, the movie is set to release in Spring 2020.
