AB de Villiers out of PSL 4

Lahore Qalandars have suffered another setback as their ace batsman, AB de Villiers has pulled out of the remaining matches of PSL due to back injury. The South African batsman had signed to play 9 matches for Lahore Qalandars, with 2 matches to be played in Lahore.

The 35 year old, who has retired from international cricket has a long history of back problems, because of which he had given up wicket keeping as well. He hurt his back during the PSL, as he dived to complete a 2nd run against Quetta Gladiators. His movement were hampered in the rest of the innings and didn’t take the field in Qalandar’s defense of the total. Initially, there were reports that ABD has recovered to play matches, but now it has emerged that doctors have advised him two weeks of rest.

“I am very disappointed that I will not be able to play in front of the passionate Pakistani cricket fans,” de Villiers said in a press statement. “I saw my doctor who has advised complete rest for two weeks and, unfortunately, that rules me out of the games in Karachi. I hope to be a part of the HBL PSL next year and very much hope to play my part in the return of international cricket to the country. I am backing Lahore Qalandars to go all the way and win the trophy this year.”

After two days PSL moves to Karachi, where 4 group games, the knockout phase and the final will be played.
