Abid Ali pushes his case for selection with an unbeaten 92

With a berth of a top order batsman opening up, after Hafeez’ retirement, Abid Ali did no harm to his chances of being picked up for the South African tour. On the 2nd day of Quaid e Azam Trophy Final, Habib Bank took charge by scoring 170 runs for the loss of only one wicket, after breaking the resistance of SNGPL

Abid Ali, who had a tremendous series against England Lions was sent back to represent his domestic side Habib Bank for the final. He took full advantage of the situation by ending the day at 92 not out. He hit 12 fours along the way. Lahore Qalandar’s all rounder Agha Salman supported him, remaining not out at exactly 50. The only wicket to fall of Habib Bank was wicket keeper Jamal Anwar for 19. Misbah, tried 6 bowlers but only Asad Ali picked up a wicket.

Earlier, SNGPL were bowled out for 304. Captain Misbah couldn’t complete his 100, and was dismissed at 91. A breezy 3 from Bilawal Bhatti took the side over 300. Veteran left arm spinner finished with 4 wickets, while Khurram Shehzad sent 3 batsmen to the pavilion.

With a long batting line up, Habib Bank would be looking for a long 1st innings league. The match continues in the National stadium.
