Abrar Ahmed becomes the first bowler in Pakistan’s Test history to take 5 wickets in the first session on debut

Abrar Ahmed is the 252nd player from Pakistan to play Test cricket. 

Debutant Abrar Ahmed takes five-wicket haul before lunch on the first day of the second test against England underway in Multan.

England won the toss and elected to bat against Pakistan.

The host side went with the three changes in the team by dropping Azhar Ali. And Faheem Ashraf and Muhammad Nawaz returning, and the mystery spinner Abrar Ahmed making his debut.

The 24-year-old Abrar Ahmed took 5 wickets before lunch on his test debut. Its been a dream start to his career.

Nicknamed “Harry Potter” by friends because Abrar wears glasses similar to those of the fictional boy wizard, dismissed Zak Crawley (19), Ben Duckett (63) and Joe Root (eight) in the first two hours, before sending Ollie Pope (60) and Harry Brook (09) on their way.

England have been bowled out for 281, as the debutant Abrar Ahmed dismissed 7 players. Even in difficult conditions, the visitors managed to score runs at an average of 5.43.

Abrar Ahmed has became the 13th Pakistan bowler to take five or more wickets in an innings on debut.

The only other Pakistan bowler to take 5 wickets on his first day in Test cricket is Wahab Riaz, also vs England, at The Oval in 2010.

 

Abrar made his first-class debut in 2020 while playing for Sindh, against Southern Punjab, in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy.

He currently has 76 wickets in 26 first-class innings at an average of 25.56 with best match figures of 11-63.
