Mohammad Amir Defends Fiery Celebration After Dismissing Babar Azam in PSL Clash

This marked the second time in PSL 10 that Amir dismissed Babar

Mohammad Amir defended his animated celebration after dismissing Babar Azam during Quetta Gladiators’ 64-run victory over Peshawar Zalmi in HBL PSL 10, emphasising that such rivalries enhance T20 cricket’s entertainment value.

Amir trapped Babar lbw with a sharp in-swinger in the third over, exploiting Babar’s expectation of an outswinger.

This marked the second time in PSL 10 that Amir dismissed Babar, having previously removed him for a duck.

Amir sprinted toward the Gladiators’ dugout, mimicking South Indian actor Allu Arjun’s iconic gesture from the movie Pushpa, and directed a fiery gesture at mentor Viv Richards, who urged composure.

Amir stated such rivalries-whether on-field or on social media-“entertain people, especially in T20s,” adding drama to the tournament.

He emphasised his job is to “tease the batter and show aggression,” while batters aim to score, creating a balanced spectacle.

Despite the rivalry, Amir acknowledged Babar’s stature as a “big player” and credited his tactical use of swing to outsmart him.

Amir’s early breakthrough destabilized Zalmi’s chase of 179, leading to their collapse for 114. Faheem Ashraf’s five-wicket haul further sealed the dominant win.
