Anrich Nortje Ruled Out of South Africa’s White-Ball Series Against Pakistan
The fast bowler suffered a contusion on his left big toe during training
Anrich Nortje has been ruled out of South Africa’s ongoing white-ball series against Pakistan due to a left toe injury.
The fast bowler suffered a contusion on his left big toe during training, which was later confirmed to be a fracture following scans. As a result, he will miss the remaining two T20 matches and the subsequent three One-Day Internationals (ODIs) scheduled for later this month.
In his absence, uncapped all-rounder Dayyaan Galiem has been named as Nortje’s replacement. Galiem, 26, has played 60 T20 matches, taking 46 wickets and scoring 723 runs. He is expected to contribute with both bat and ball in the upcoming games.
The T20I series currently sees South Africa leading 1-0 after their victory in the first match against Pakistan.
Nortje’s injury adds to South Africa’s growing list of sidelined bowlers, which includes Gerald Coetzee and Lungi Ngidi among others. This series serves as an important preparation for the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy next year.
