Bumrah Refutes Bed Rest Rumors: “Fake News is Easy to Spread”
BCCI has postponed the announcement of the 15-member Champions Trophy squad by a week due to injury concerns surrounding Jasprit Bumrah.

Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has dismissed recent media reports suggesting he has been advised to take bed rest due to a back injury.
Reacting to the claims, which circulated widely on social media, Bumrah expressed his disbelief, stating, “I know fake news is easy to spread but this made me laugh. Sources unreliable” in a post on X, which was removed shortly.
The reports in question indicated that Bumrah was instructed to rest at home following a back spasm he experienced during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series against Australia. These claims raised concerns about his availability for the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy, set to begin on February 19, 2025.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has postponed the announcement of the 15-member Champions Trophy 2025 squad by a week due to injury concerns surrounding Jasprit Bumrah. The BCCI sought an extension for the deadline, as the squad was originally set to be revealed by January 12.
The Indian selectors, who met in Mumbai on Saturday to finalize the team for the upcoming T20 International series against England, were briefed on the right-arm pacer’s fitness status.
“Bumrah will head to the NCA for rehabilitation. Initial reports indicate there is no fracture, but there is swelling in his back. The NCA will monitor his recovery over the next three weeks. After that, he will need to participate in a match or two — even practice games — to assess his match fitness,” a BCCI source stated.
