Emerging Asia Cup Final: Rohail, Hasnain lead Pakistan to the title

Pakistan Emerging Team defeated Bangladesh Emerging Team by 77-runs to clinch the title. Coming into the final with 4 victories on the trot, Pakistani team brushed aside the challenge from a strong Bangladeshi team.

Having lost the toss, Pakistani team batted 1st at the Shere Bangla National Stadium. They were challenged early as openers Omair Yousuf and Haider Ali fell early. Rohail Nazir and Imran Rafiq came together to take the score up to 158 when the latter fell for 62. Captain Saud Shakeel (42) and Khushdil Shah (27) supported Rohail, who completed an enterprising century. Pakistan finished with a strong total of 301/6. For the Bangladeshi team, Sumon Khan and Hasan Mahmud bagged three and two wickets respectively.

In response, Pakistani bowlers picked up wickets at regular intervals and never allowed the opposition a foothold in the chase. Player of the tournament Soumya Sarkar, was picked up by Sameen Gul. The Bangladeshi middle order resisted with Captain Najmul Hossain Shanto, Afif Hussain, and Mahedi Hasan all chipping in with 40s. However, Pakistan bowlers were dominant with Quetta Gladiator’s Mohammad Hasnain picking up three wickets, while Saif Badar and Khushdil Shah bagging a brace each.

Rohail Nazir was declared the player of the final.
