Euro T20 Slam: Shahid Afridi named icon player
Euro T20 Slam have signed up big cricketing names for their league scheduled to be held from 30th August to 22nd September. Shahid Khan Afridi, and Babar Azam will be two Pakistani cricketers in the league.
Shahid Afridi has signed up as the icon player alongside All-rounder Shane Watson, attacking batman Brendon McCullum, and leg spinner Rashid Khan. Two remaining names will be announced at a later date.
Afridi, who has retired from the international game has looking forward to playing in Europe.
“I have enjoyed my early days in cricket playing in Leicestershire, Derbyshire, and Kent. I am expecting similar kind of surfaces and weather in Ireland, Scotland, and the Netherlands,” Afridi said. “This is the part of the world where we won our only World T20 title. I am really excited to go out there and entertain fans.”
Moreover, more marquee players list includes Babar Azam, JP Duminy, Chris Lynn, Imran Tahir and Luke Ronchi.
Scotland, Ireland, and the Netherlands will host the matches between six franchises. These include Amsterdam Kings, Rotterdam Rhinos, Glasgow Giants, Edinburgh Rocks, Dublin Chiefs, and Belfast Titans.
