ICC Delegation Inspects Gaddafi Stadium in Preparation for 2025 Champions Trophy

The six-member team included ICC officials, broadcasters, and logistics personnel who assessed various aspects of the stadium's readiness.

The ICC delegation conducted a thorough inspection of Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on Sunday, January 12, 2025, as part of their preparations for the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy.

This visit is crucial as the tournament is set to commence on February 19, with Gaddafi Stadium being one of the key venues hosting matches.

The six-member team included ICC officials, broadcasters, and logistics personnel who assessed various aspects of the stadium’s readiness.

The ICC inspection concentrated on ongoing construction and renovation work at the stadium, ensuring that all necessary facilities were in place ahead of the tournament. This includes checking seating arrangements, floodlights, and other essential amenities.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has set a deadline of January 25 for completing all upgrades at Gaddafi Stadium and other venues. The PCB has expressed confidence that they will meet this deadline despite previous concerns about delays in construction work across the three host cities—Karachi, Lahore, and Rawalpindi.

Earlier in the day, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi also visited the Gaddafi Stadium to review the ongoing upgrades, renovations, and finishing work.

He directed officials to expedite the completion of the renovation project ahead of the Champions Trophy.

Naqvi emphasised the importance of promptly completing the drainage work and expressed satisfaction with the progress.

He stated, “Gaddafi Stadium, equipped with all modern facilities, will be ready this month. The work is progressing at a swift pace.”

He further added, “We are installing brand-new, comfortable seats to enhance the fans’ experience, along with new LED lights on the towers. Fans can also look forward to laser light shows during night games. The installation of new scoreboards is underway as we aim to make the ICC Champions Trophy a truly memorable event in Pakistan.”
