The openers broke the record for the highest opening stand for Pakistan in Test cricket with their 225-run partnership versus England.
Imam-ul-Haq scored 121, while Abdullah Shafique hit 114 in the record-breaking partnership.
Pakistan’s Mohsin Hassan and Shoaib Muhammad previously held this record for their 173-run opening partnership against England in 1984.
On Day-1 of the test, England became the first team to score 500 runs on the opening day.
It is the first time in the history of test cricket that the openers from both teams have scored hundreds in the first innings of a test match.
