Liverpool, reigning English champion was thrashed by Aston Villa (7-2) for the fourth day of the Premier League at Villa Park on Sunday.
During tonight’s match nothing seemed to go in the Reds favour, Liverpool were down 4-1 at the break with a hat-trick from Ollie Watkins.
Even Jürgen Klopp was seen laughing on the sidelines after the 6th goal of Jack Grealish (6-2, 66th), the third scored by the Birmingham club on a shot deflected by a defender of the Reds.
Such a huge defeat was unheard of since 1963 for the Reds. Liverpool had not conceded 7 goals in the league since a loss by the same score against Tottenham back in 1963 and, never, an outgoing English champion had not received 7 goals since a 7-1 conceded by Arsenal at Sunderland in 1953.
It’s the first time ever both Liverpool and Man Utd have conceded 6 plus goals on the same day, as Manchester United slid to a second home defeat in as many games, after an embarrassing 6-1 loss against Tottenham on Sunday.
Liverpool, who had won their first 3 matches, is in 5th place in the standings.

Realise the rivalry between Liverpool and Man Utd is intense but this is taking it too far………— Simon Stone (@sistoney67) October 4, 2020
“Klopp's Liverpool conceded 7 while we conceded just 6 with 10 men. Not bad, eh?” pic.twitter.com/zs3aShfgl3— Troll Football (@TrollFootball) October 4, 2020

Fir all sorts of reasons, think this will be a very odd PL season and there'll be more days like today for top clubs. Expect Liverpool to win title again but with much lower points tally to last time.— Kieran Cunningham (@KCsixtyseven) October 4, 2020
