Mike Tyson vs Roy Jones Jr: The ‘Frontline Battle’ ends in draw

The ‘Frontline Battle’, an 8-round exhibition fight between Mike Tyson and Roy Jones Jr. on Sunday ended in a draw.

The result was a surprise outcome as Tyson got into the ring after 15 years of his retirement, while Jones Jr. on the other hand left the fighting three years ago.

However, the boxing fans who watch the bout,  gave it to Tyson who clearly won most, if not all, rounds.

Mike Tyson, 54, proved age has not robbed him of his power as the former heavyweight champion, in his long-awaited return to the ring, dominated Roy Jones Jr. in an exhibition fight, and Tyson’s body shots clearly took a toll on 51-year-old Jones Jr.

Final Punch Stats for Tyson vs Jones:
• Tyson out-landed Jones, 67-37 in total connects. 35-4 edge in body shots
• Tyson out-landed Jones in 7 of the 8 rounds (one even)
• Jones threw 43 more punches than Tyson

Speaking after the draw with Roy Jones Jr, former champion Mike Tyson said he’s “absolutely” like to fight again.

“I’m happy with a draw,” Tyson said. “I thought I won but I’m happy because we entertained the fans. I’m used to doing it for three minutes. I’m just happy I got this under my belt and I’m going to continue to do more.

“Absolutely I would do this again. I’m just happy I could go eight rounds. Knockouts mean nothing, you have to be able to go the distance.”
