Before he is able to do so, the 28-year-old will have to test negative for Covid-19 twice. The 1st test was taken on Monday and another is expected in two days’ time. Amir will be replacing Haris Rauf. The Lahore Qalandars pacer has not yet recovered from coronavirus with 5 out of 6 tests coming out positive in the past month. He will go around 10 days of self-quarantine before taking another test.
Meanwhile, wicketkeeper Rohail Nazir will be returning to Pakistan. The Pakistan under-19 captain was sent as a reinforcement after Mohammad Rizwan had tested positive for coronavirus. However, with him having recovered and Sarfaraz Ahmed already with the squad, the team management has decided to send Nazir back.
An additional masseur Mohammad Imran will be joining the team to assist the regular masseur Malang Ali. Pakistan take on England in the first test on 5th August 2020.
