CPL: Mohammad Hasnain takes Trinbago Knight Riders to victory

Tear away paceman Mohammad Hasnain had an excellent start to his Caribbean Premier League (CPL) career as he took three wickets to take Trinbago Knight Riders to victory. The defending champions beat St Kitts and Nevis Patriots by 11 runs.

Batting 1^st St Kitts and Nevis Patriots put the Knight Riders’ top order under pressure by picking three early wickets. From 20-3, Kiwi All-rounder Jimmy Neesham and wicketkeeper Dinesh Ramdin knitted a solid partnership. After Neesham’s departure, in came to the danger man Kieron Pollard. The opposition captain had held back Karachi Kings’ leg spinner Usama Mir to attack the veteran all-rounder. However, Mir was played out safely going for 19 runs in three overs. But Pollard attacked Rayad Emrit and Carlos Brathwaite, taking the score to 152.

In response after a bright start thanks to Evin Lewis, St Kitts was held back due to some tight bowling. Fellow opener Kjorn Ottley however, only scored at a strike rate of 83. From 70/1, the batting side slumped to 141 all out. Mohammad Hafeez slumbered at 72 before nicking a scoop off Mohammad Hasnain to the keeper. Little resistance came from All-rounder Fabian Allan, who hit 30 but he was also snapped up by the Quetta Gladiators pacer before he really threatened to take St Kitts close. Rayad Emrit was Hasnain’s 3^rd wicket.

Usama Mir smashed 24 off 10 including two sixes but his wicket broke the ST Kitts’ resistance. Jimmy Neesham also picked up three wickets and was given the man of the match award due to his all-round performance.
