Day 5 of the National T20 Cup saw the bat dominating the ball in both matches. The Balochistan victory over South Punjab saw almost 450 runs in the match. While Northern also beat Sindh in a high scoring match.
A Feast for Left-Handed Batsmen
Well, Imam does what Imam does best. After missing out in the initial matches, the Pakistan opener came roaring back with a rockling 54 ball 94. Another important innings was played by Balochistan Captain Haris Sohail, coming in at 4 and hitting his way to 53 of 27. The power game he showed today, could land him a PSL contract. In reply, Southern Punjab made a good fight of it. Captain Shan Masood smashing of 42. Perhaps more importantly from a Pakistan point of view, Khushdil Shah delivered with 72 of 34 balls. Given the dire need of a power hitter down the order, Misbah ul Haq would be delighted with Shah’s form.
Zeeshan Malik and Bowlers Down Sindh
It’s either been feast or famine for the Northern openers. It was a feast for Zeeshan Malik with 84. Smaller contributions from the rest of the lineup, the defending champions posted 200. Despite special knocks from Azam Khan and Anwar Ali, Sindh fell short of the target. Khurram Manzoor did score 64, but given the match situation, it was a poor innings due to slow strike rate. The one’s analyst like to call, a match losing knock.
