#T20WorldCup: Pakistan books place in final by thrashing New Zealand by 7 wickets

Pakistan in the final at MCG will lock horns against the top dog of the semi-final between India and England. 

Pakistan books its place in the final by thrashing New Zealand by 7 wickets in the first semi-final of the ICC T20 World Cup on Wednesday.

The Black Caps had set a 153-run target for Pakistan after batting first after winning the toss against Pakistan which the Men in Green chased down with ease.

Records favour Pakistan as their best fast-bowling attack wrecked rival batters.

Pakistan got a flying start when they confined New Zealand at 49/3 at the end of the eight overs.

While the 68-run partnership between Kane Williamson and Mitchell brought New Zealand back into the game.

Pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi clean-bowled the Kiwi skipper who made 46 off 42 deliveries as the NZ scored 133 runs for four wickets in the 18 overs.

Mitchell along with James Neesham helped the Black Caps end the innings at 152/4.

Mitchell emerged as the highest scorer for NZ and remained unbeaten for 53.

Though the target set by the black caps wasn’t enough to break Pakistan’s jinx in the World Cup semi-final!

Babar Azam (52) and Muhammad Rizwan (46) opening pair managed to score 102 runs in 12 overs.

Pakistan has booked its place in the final at MCG opposite the top dog of the semi-final between India and England. 

The second semi-final will be played in Adelaide on Thursday.
