Pakistan Excluded from 2025 Sultan Azlan Shah Cup Despite 2024 Runner-Up Finish

This decision has raised questions about the selection criteria for the tournament.

Pakistan has been excluded from the 2025 Sultan Azlan Shah Cup, despite its strong performance in the 2024 edition, where it finished as runners-up.

The tournament, scheduled to take place from November 22 to 29 in Ipoh, Malaysia, will feature Belgium, Canada, Germany, India, Ireland, and Malaysia but does not include Pakistan or Japan, the defending champions.

The reasons for their exclusion remain unclear.

Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) sources confirmed that the team was not invited by the organizers.

This decision has raised questions about the selection criteria for the tournament.

Pakistan had an impressive record in 2024, remaining unbeaten in the group stage and securing a silver medal after losing to Japan in the final.
