Mohammad Hafeez, perhaps a little surprisingly has been moved to the top of the order. The shocking thing about him, was that he came on to bowl when the match was pretty much done and dusted. He sifted picked up 2 wickets with his modified action and the match was done. He didn’t offer any easy balls. It was professional. A lot like Pakistan’s T20 performance in the recent past. They don’t give you a chance once they are on top.
Some Australians were in the ground to see the proceedings. They won’t have liked how much purchase, spinners from both teams got. Pakistan have three quality in their ranks, a leg spinners (with a potent googlie), a slow orthodox left arm spinner and an off spinner. And if required, Shoaib Malik can roll his arm over too. Australia’s trouble with spinners is well documented. They are coming after taking a heavy beating in England. Moeen Ali and Adil Rashid, dominated them.
The wickets are much slower in Zimbabwe, Pakistan have a tremendous chance of breaking that mental image of Australians being the top team. This is not a quality team. They wouldn’t be enjoying the relentless schedule of international cricket. Pakistani team has not been complacent for a while. Perhaps the culture Micky Arthur and Sarfraz Ahmed have developed deserves credit. It is time to really drive home the advantage. Don’t relent boys!
