Pakistan’s U-18 Hockey Team Dominates Asia Cup with Back-to-Back Big Wins in China
Pakistan will next face Bangladesh on July 8, followed by their final pool match against hosts China on July 9.

Pakistan’s under-18 men’s hockey team is off to a flying start at the Men’s U18 Asia Cup 2025, held at the Dazhou National Hockey Training Centre in Dazhou, China. After a challenging start due to visa delays that saw the team arrive just hours before their first match, Pakistan has shown remarkable resilience and skill, securing two emphatic victories in Group A.
Thrashing Hong Kong 8-0 Despite Last-Minute Arrival
In their opening match, Pakistan overcame significant logistical hurdles to defeat Hong Kong 8-0. The team’s late arrival due to visa issues meant they had minimal rest and preparation time, yet they dominated the game from start to finish. Key players Hassan, Abdullah, and Mohammad Farooq each scored twice, while Aamir Sohail and Mohammad Zaman added one goal apiece. Pakistan’s scoring surged particularly in the second half, with five goals in the final quarter sealing a comprehensive victory.
Crushing Sri Lanka 9-0 with Early Onslaught
Building on their momentum, Pakistan delivered an even more commanding performance against Sri Lanka in their second Group A match on Sunday. The team wasted no time, scoring four goals in the first quarter alone. Abdullah Awan opened the scoring in the fourth minute, quickly followed by Zubair Latif and two more goals from Asam Haider and Atif Ali.
Pakistan continued to dominate in the second quarter, with Asam Haider converting two penalty corners to take the lead to 6-0 at halftime. The third quarter saw Adeel score twice and Atif Ali complete his brace, pushing the score to 9-0. Sri Lanka struggled to mount any meaningful challenge, and Pakistan comfortably maintained control throughout the match.
Group A Standings and Outlook
With these back-to-back dominant wins, Pakistan sits atop Group A alongside China, Bangladesh, Hong Kong, and Sri Lanka. Their next fixtures against Bangladesh and host nation China will be crucial in securing a place in the knockout stages of the tournament.
