PCB Condemns Incident Involving Khushdil Shah and Spectators in New Zealand
Khushdil Shah confronted spectators after they shouted anti-Pakistan slogans and used abusive language in Pashto

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has condemned an incident involving cricketer Khushdil Shah and spectators during the third ODI between Pakistan and New Zealand at Mount Maunganui on Saturday.
The incident occurred when Afghan spectators allegedly hurled anti-Pakistan slogans and abusive remarks at Pakistani players.
Khushdil Shah, who was not playing in the match, attempted to confront the spectators but was restrained by security personnel.
Following a complaint from the Pakistan team, two spectators were ejected from the venue.
Responding to the situation, the security intervened to prevent a physical confrontation, and two Afghan spectators were ejected from the stadium.
The PCB issued a statement strongly condemning the abusive language used by the spectators and defended Khushdil Shah’s actions as an attempt to stop the anti-Pakistan slogans.
“When anti-Pakistan slogans emerged, cricketer Khushdil Shah stepped in and urged the spectators to refrain,” the board said. “In response, Afghan spectators escalated the situation by using further inappropriate language in Pashto.”
The PCB confirmed that following the Pakistani team’s complaint, stadium officials intervened and ejected the two disruptive spectators.
The board has urged greater crowd control and security enforcement at future international fixtures to prevent such incidents.
The incident highlights the heightened tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan, which have been evident in recent cricket matches.
