PCB Denies Rumors of Mohsin Naqvi’s Resignation Amid ACC Presidency

The denial comes after several media outlets and social platforms circulated rumors suggesting Naqvi might resign

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Monday addressed rumors regarding the potential resignation of its Chairman, Mohsin Naqvi.

These speculations emerged after Naqvi was elected unopposed as the President of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), leading to concerns that he might step down from his PCB role due to increased responsibilities.

However, the PCB has categorically denied these reports, stating that Naqvi remains committed to his duties as PCB Chairman and has no intention of resigning at this stage.

Naqvi’s dual roles in the PCB and ACC are not unprecedented, and the PCB believes that effective time management can handle these responsibilities.

“There is no truth to the reports about Mr. Naqvi’s resignation,” the official stated. “He continues to perform his duties as PCB Chairman and remains fully committed to the development of Pakistan cricket.”

“It is an honour for Pakistan that our representative is leading the ACC. Mr. Naqvi has no intention of stepping down from the PCB at this stage,” the statement added.

The denial comes after several media outlets and social platforms circulated rumors suggesting Naqvi might resign following Pakistan’s disappointing performances in recent cricket series, including losses in New Zealand and an early exit from the Champions Trophy.

Despite these challenges, Naqvi continues to serve as both the PCB Chairman and the Federal Minister for Interior, with the PCB affirming his commitment to developing Pakistan cricket.
