PSL X Match-24: Karachi Kings Climb to Third Spot After Thrilling 4-Wicket Victory Over Lahore Qalandars

The match was reduced to 15 overs per side due to rain

In a nail-biting encounter at Gaddafi Stadium, Karachi Kings edged past Lahore Qalandars by four wickets, propelling themselves to third place on the HBL PSL X points table.

The 24th match of PSL X, reduced to 15 overs per side due to rain, saw Lahore Qalandars post a competitive total of 160 for 8. Opener Mohammad Naeem was the star with a blazing 65 off 29 balls, supported by Fakhar Zaman’s 51, as the pair put on a strong opening partnership.

However, after their departure, Lahore’s innings faltered, losing eight wickets for 67 runs, thanks largely to a brilliant bowling performance from Abbas Afridi, who took 4 wickets for 27 runs.

Chasing a revised target of 168 under the DLS method, Karachi Kings got solid starts from David Warner and Tim Seifert, each scoring 24 runs, while Saad Baig contributed a valuable 25.

The match was ultimately decided by Irfan Khan, who played a spectacular knock of 48 not out off just 21 balls, hitting two fours and five sixes to guide Karachi to victory with three balls to spare.

This win lifted Karachi Kings to 10 points from 8 matches, placing them just behind Islamabad United on net run rate and pushing Lahore Qalandars down to fourth place.

The thrilling victory not only boosted Karachi’s chances of making the playoffs but also intensified the competition as the PSL enters its crucial final phase.

With the points table tightening, every match now holds immense significance for the teams vying for a spot in the knockout stages.
