Rawalpindi test Day-4: England set Pakistan a target of 343 to win

Pakistan have a maximum 130 overs left to either salvage a draw or secure a 1-0 lead in the three-match series against the visitors.

England declared their second innings on 264-7 to set Pakistan a victory target of 343 in the first test on Day-4 in Rawalpindi on Sunday.

England scored 657 in their first innings before blowing Pakistan out for 579.

Harry Brook (87), Joe Root (73) and Zak Crawley (50) scored half-centuries in England’s second innings while they had each scored centuries in the first innings of amassed 657.

While Naseem Shah, Mohammad Ali and Zahir Mahmood claimed two wickets apiece for Pakistan who conceded a 78-run lead to the visitors.

On Day-4 of the first cricket test against England, Pakistan resumed their first innings at overnight score of 499 for 7 in Rawalpindi on Sunday.

Earlier, debutant Jacks took all three wickets to fall after Pakistan resumed at 499-7, but not before the host’s tail-enders scored freely.

Agha Salman (53) and Zahid Mahmood (17) namaged to frustrate England for 50 minutes during their stubborn eighth-wicket stand of 57 on a much-maligned flat Rawalpindi Stadium pitch.

Pakistan have a maximum 130 overs left to either salvage a draw or secure a 1-0 lead in the three-match series against the visitors.
