Saim Ayub Shatters Brian Lara’s ODI Record with Stunning Century Against South Africa

In a remarkable display of talent, Saim Ayub, at just 22 years old, has broken Brian Lara’s long-standing record for the youngest player to score an ODI century against South Africa.
During Pakistan’s thrilling chase in the first ODI at Boland Park, Ayub scored 109 runs off 119 balls, leading his team to a three-wicket victory with just one ball to spare.
Saim Ayub is now also recognized as the youngest player to score an ODI century in South Africa while chasing, breaking the previous record held by Quinton de Kock, who was 23 years and 48 days old when he achieved his first century in 2016.
With this performance, Ayub becomes the third youngest player overall to score an ODI century against South Africa, following Ahmed Shehzad and Kane Williamson.
