Sajid Sadpara Summits Dhaulagiri Without Oxygen

He was part of the 13-member team of rope fixer from Nepalese tour operator, Seven Summit Tracks (SST), which reached the top of 8,167-meter high peak on Saturday morning.

Renowned Pakistani mountaineer Sajid Ali Sadpara has successfully summited Dhaulagiri (8,167 meters), the world’s seventh-highest mountain, without supplemental oxygen or porter support.

This remarkable achievement, confirmed by the Alpine Club of Pakistan, marks Sadpara’s ninth ascent of an 8,000-meter peak accomplished without bottled oxygen and entirely unsupported on May 10, placing him among an elite group of climbers globally.

Sadpara began his expedition by reaching Dhaulagiri’s base camp on April 6, 2025, and completed his acclimatization up to Camp 3.

The final summit push started from Camp IV at 6:15 pm on Friday, May 9, with the team fixing over 350 meters of rope on the final stretch. They reached the summit at 9:35 am on Saturday, marking the first confirmed ascent of Dhaulagiri for the Spring 2025 climbing season.

At just 29 years old, Sajid Sadpara has established himself as one of Pakistan’s most accomplished high-altitude climbers. All nine of his 8,000-meter summits have been achieved in the most challenging style without supplemental oxygen or support supporting extraordinary endurance and resilience.

Sadpara is the son of the late Muhammad Ali Sadpara, a legendary Pakistani climber who died during a winter ascent of K2 in 2021. Sajid has dedicated his climbing career to fulfilling his father’s dream of summiting all 14 of the world’s 8,000-meter peaks without supplemental oxygen.

The Alpine Club of Pakistan and the global mountaineering community have hailed Sadpara’s Dhaulagiri ascent as a historic milestone, reflecting the strength and courage of Pakistani climbers on the world stage.

“This is another proud moment for Pakistan and the mountaineering world!” – Karrar Haidri, Secretary, Alpine Club of Pakistan
