Guinness World Records are all about thinking out of the box and coming up with novel ways to stand out from the crowd. A little boy from Pakistan, Sameer Khan Yousufee did just that and set a new record for the longest bowling run-up (male). The covered area of his run-up was 4.052 km (2.52 mi).
A student of the Beaconhouse School System, Sameer Khan broke the record on 22nd January 2020. A special match was organised between two under-10 teams. The young pacer started his run with great enthusiasm on the streets outside the stadium and continued into the field to deliver this record-breaking delivery.
Well, kudos to the batsmen and the fielders, who waited for the bowler to arrive…fast bowlers and their shenanigans, right? Also, we hope the bowling captain didn’t get docked his match fee due to a super slow over rate.
Here is hoping Sameer Khan, the right-arm fast bowler with the longest run-up of them all goes on to become a superfast bowler. He already has a Shoaib Akhtar like run-up, so that’s a start!
