Satire: Misbah Selects Imran Farhat to Replace Babar Azam

This is a work of fiction but please do take it seriously!

In a statement of intent and foresightedness, Pakistan head coach cum chief selector cum batting coach cum guy-who-fired-the-last-coach-to-get-his-job-(lol) Misbah ul Haq has decided to recall dashing openers Imran Farhat and Nasir Jamshed to add depth to Pakistan’s batting line up. Imran Farhat will replace the underperforming Babar Azam, as the loss against the 2nd string Sri Lanka side, was completely his fault, said a source who is close to Najam Sethi’s chirya.

After Pakistan was beaten heavily in the 1st T20I in Lahore, the team management has decided to ring in the changes. The source said that Misbah gave the hairdryer treatment to Babar Azam for his persistent failures. The right-handed batsman has been told to go back to domestic cricket to improve his batting like Ahmed Shehzad and Umer Akmal.

In place of Babar, talented youngsters Imran Farhat and Nasir Jamshed will be given dozens of opportunities. You may recall that Nasir Jamshed was banned for his involvement in the PSL spot-fixing scandal, but Ehsan Mani has rescinded his punishment just to get back at the former PCB chairman Najam Sethi.

The source also told us that Misbah is confident that Imran Farhat will soon overtake Babar as Pakistan’s premier batsman but he needs more time to groom Ahmed Shehzad and Umer Akmal. Jack-of-all-trades former Pakistan captain said that he has recalled Nasir Jamshed because of why-the-hell-not.

Criticizing Captain Sarfaraz’s lack of performance, the head coach shot a warning that Adnan Akmal waits in the wings. He vowed to fix everything with his highly innovative, progressive and forward-thinking ideas even if it means having to break things that have been working perfectly.
