Wimbledon 2019: Serena Williams fined $10,000 for damaging match court

US tennis star Serena Williams has been fined $10,000 for throwing a racket during a practice session before the Wimbledon Championships had started, damaging an outside court at the All England Club.

The All England Club confirmed Monday that Williams had been slapped with a sanction because of “unsportsmanlike conduct”.

Though she has already reached the semifinals of the women’s singles for the 12th time and the second round of the mixed doubles, where she has partnered up with Andy Murray.

Former World No.1 Serena Williams scored her 97th victory at the All-England Club in style, taking down the always-dangerous her fellow American Alison Riske in three close sets.

Though the tournament is only the sixth event the veteran American player has competed in this year, however, the fine is only a fraction of the $400,000 she has earned so far from her run in the grass Grand Slam tournament.
