Several Australian cricketers report to Board over receiving death threats from Indian fans

Australian players and their families were at the receiving end of abuse and death threats on social media.

Several Australian cricketers have reported to the Board over receiving death threats from Indian fans following the World Cup win in Ahmedabad.

Indian fans couldn’t hold their anger back and instead of questioning their team, yet again criticised and threatened the winning team players following the nation’s crushing World Cup loss to Australia.

As per the report, Cricket Australia have received complaints from several Aussie cricketers over getting death and rape threats from Indian cricket fans on social media.

It was reported the other day that Glenn Maxwell and Travis Head‘s wives were sent “hateful vile” messages from Indian fans following Australia’s victory in the Cricket World Cup Final.

ESPN Australia’s Steve Smith shared screenshots of some threatening messages he had received warning him of violence. Indian fans probably mistook his account as the Cricketer Steve Smith’s account

On the other hand, Grade Cricketer host Ian Higgins posted a similarly disturbing message asking him to “kill yourself”.

Meanwhile, New Zealand cricketer Jimmy Neesham was even mistakenly abused for being an Australian.

The Internet is flooded with Neesham’s Instagram stories showing the hate messages he has been receiving for being mistaken as an Aussie player.
