South Africa has sacked U19 Cricket captain David Teeger over pro-Israel remarks!
The development comes on Friday, just a week before the commencement of the home World Cup.
Captain David Teeger was removed from his position due to comments expressing support for Israel.
Cricket South Africa (CSA) officially announced Teeger’s dismissal citing concerns about potential protests and risks surrounding the tournament.
“SA U19 captain David Teeger has been relieved of his duties ahead of the U19 showpiece event set to be held in SA. A new captain will be announced in due course,” CSA announced.
“CSA has a primary duty to safeguard the interests and safety of all those involved in the World Cup and must accordingly respect the expert advice of those responsible for the safety of participants and spectators,” the cricket body stated.
