Taliban ban broadcast of IPL 2021on Afghan national TV

Taliban ban the broadcast of the UAE leg of the  Indian Premier League IPL 2021 on Afghan national TV, it emerges on Monday.

The former media manager of Afghanistan Cricket Board Muhammad Ibrahim Momand broke the news on Twitter.

“Afghanistan national TV will not broadcast the @IPL as usual as it was reportedly banned to live the matches resumed tonight due to possible anti-Islam contents, girls dancing & the attendance of barred hair women in the stadium by the Islamic Emirates of the Taliban. #CSKvMI,” he tweeted.

On the other hand, Afghan journalist Anees Ur Rehman in a tweet shared that the Afghan sports TV channel has already paid for the transmission of the sporting event.

“Taliban ban on @IPL cricket matches on the Afghanistan National Television. RTA sport already paid the transmission fees,” he said.
