Two week medication, complete rest for Shadab Khan

Leg spinner Shadab Khan been prescribed two-week course of medication and complete rest to recover from the virus. Tests were conducted in London by gastroenterology and hepatology specialist.

Shadab is set to return to Pakistan. Another round of blood tests will be done after 2 weeks to determine his fitness levels. The all-rounder was originally part of the squad for the England series. However, after a virus was detected in his blood, he was replaced by Yasir Shah.

Shadab was originally named in both squads for the England series and World Cup only to be ruled out two days after the announcement after failing a blood test. He was subsequently replaced with fellow leg spinner Yasir Shah, while the PCB arranged an appointment with a London-based gastroenterology and hepatology specialist.

PCB can replace players till 23rd May without ICC’s permission. After the cut-off date, players can only be replaced with ICC’s technical committee’s approval.
