USA beat Canada by 7 wickets in the opening game of the T20 World Cup

USA made a blistering T20 World Cup debut by beating Canada in the opening game at the Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas.

Canada scored 194 runs for the loss of 5 wickets while batting first after losing the toss.

Canadas’s Navneet Dhaliwal scored 61 runs off 44 deliveries, while Nicholas Kirton scored 51 off 31 balls.

Vice-captain Aaron Jones and former South African player Andries Gous, now a Texas resident, spearheaded the USA’s chase of a challenging 195-run target.

The duo’s blistering 131-run partnership for the third wicket made the game one-sided. They scored at a rapid pace of 14.29 runs per over.

With Gous and Jones’s heroics, the USA chased down the total in 17.4 overs

Jones played a belligerent knock of 94 runs in 40 balls, which included four fours and 10 sixes.

While Gous was dismissed for a well-made 65 off 46 balls.
