Vinicius Jr and Aitana Bonmati Crowned FIFA Best Players of 2024

The winners were determined through a voting process

Vinicius Junior of Real Madrid and Aitana Bonmati of FC Barcelona were honoured with the prestigious titles of The Best FIFA Men’s Player and The Best FIFA Women’s Player, respectively in a a spectacular ceremony held in Doha, Qatar, on December 17, 2024.

Vinicius Junior’s remarkable season saw him lead Real Madrid to multiple titles, including the Champions League and La Liga, scoring 24 goals in 39 appearances. This victory comes after a disappointing finish at the Ballon d’Or ceremony, where he lost to Manchester City’s Rodri.

Vinicius Jr expressed his gratitude during his acceptance speech, emphasizing the importance of his journey from humble beginnings in Brazil to becoming a top player in world football.

Aitana Bonmati continued her dominance in women’s football by winning the FIFA Women’s Player Award for the second consecutive year. Her contributions were vital in Barcelona’s success, helping them secure both the Spanish League and Champions League titles.

Bonmati acknowledged her teammates and coaches for their support, stating that her achievements are a collective effort.

Other notable winners at the awards included Carlo Ancelotti, who was named Best Men’s Coach, and Emma Hayes, who was awarded Best Women’s Coach.

The Puskas Award for the best goal went to Manchester United’s Alejandro Garnacho, while Brazilian legend Marta received the inaugural award named after her for the best goal in women’s football.

The winners were determined through a voting process that included fans, national team captains and coaches, as well as media representatives.

This year marked a notable inclusion of fan votes in determining the winners.
