World Junior Team Squash Championship: Pakistan out of the Final race

At the World Junior Team Squash Championship Pakistan beat India by 2-1 to qualify for Quarter Finals. Pakistan are the defending champions of the tournament being played in Chennai, India. However, the team lost to England and dropped out to the race of the finals.

During the match with India, Pakistan started the game well with Harris Qasim downing India’s Rahul Baitha with a score of 11-8, 14-16, 6-11, 7-11. In the 2nd game, Abbas Zeb took the 2nd game 11-6, 9-11, 10-12, 2-11 against Yash Fadte. The final game, India took a consolation win as Veer Chortani defeated Muhammad Uzair with a score of 12-10, 11-5.

However, for the Quarter Finals, third seeds England defeated 11th seeds Pakistan 2-1 in the match. James Wyatt overpowered Muhammad Uzair 8-11, 11-2, 11-2, 8-11, 11-2 in 47 minutes in the first match.

Nick Wall defeated Abbas Zeb 11-9, 11-6, 7-11, 11-6 in the second match. There was a consolation point for Pakistan when Haris Qasim beat Sam Todd 12-10, 9-11, 11-9 in 23 minutes in the third match.

 

Earlier, there were doubts if Pakistan would participate in the tournament as Indian government were not issuing them visa. In such pressure, the boys showed their nerve to beat the host, however lost to England and dropped out of the race of the finals.
