Elon Musk has ‘killed’ new official label for Twitter accounts

Elon Musk says that he has ‘killed’ new official label for Twitter accounts!

After Elon Musk’s intervention, Twitter introduced gray ticks and official labels on certain accounts,  were removed, it emerges on Thursday.

Esther Crawford, Twitter’s product director, in a tweet on November 8 stated that specific accounts will be added with an official label with a gray tick.

It emerges that the new change appeared in a few accounts on November 9, but then the company’s new owner, Elon Musk, intervened and removed it.

This new gray tick suddenly appeared on certain accounts on November 9 and then disappeared.

A lot is being changed in the social media platform for Twitter’s new verification system, but nothing is clear yet.

Mean while Twitter’s new boss Elon Musk responding to a tweet  on Wednesday claimed that he “killed” the new official label for Twitter accounts, on the same day that it began rolling out.

“Please note that Twitter will do lots of dumb things in coming months,” Musk said in his later tweet.

“We will keep what works & change what doesn’t,” he clarified.

Furthermore in a tweet Wednesday, Musk wrote, “Blue check will be the greatest leveler.”

Under Musk’s direction, the new Twitter Blue check mark will instead work as a paying subscriber badge that the company nonetheless plans to call “verification.”

Following Elon Musk’s decision to end the grey tick feature, Twitter’s Product Director Esther Crawford has once again spoken about it.

She said that no product is a sacred cow at Twitter anymore, Elon Musk is trying a lot of things, many of which fail while some may succeed.

She added that our aim is to strengthen the business on a long-term basis by discovering successful changes.

Responding to a question about the grey tick being removed, she said the label is not ‘dead’ yet.

“There are no sacred cows in product at Twitter anymore. Elon is willing to try lots of things — many will fail, some will succeed. The goal is to find the right mix of successful changes to ensure the long-term health and growth of the business,” Esther Crawford tweeted.

Whats happening on Twitter for verified accounts setting?

Elon Musk had hinted at an $8 subscription plan for verified accounts on November 1, which will be rolled out in the next few days.

Twitter Blue will not require identity verification and will add a blue tick to the account for an $8 monthly fee while also giving access to certain features.

According to Elon Musk, the fee for verification will reduce the number of fake accounts, while if someone tries to copy a brand, the account will be suspended forever.
