Google business videoconferencing service is now free of cost

The coronavirus lockdown has the majority of the people staying at home. Business is slow but that doesn’t mean people have stopped working. As the days of the lockdown go by, more and more people are working from home or studying from home. staying connected with their colleagues and business dealings via videoconferencing app.

In such times, the Zoom app, emerged as the leader in market, taking the top place of videoconferencing apps allowing people to stay connected during the pandemic.

However, in a bid to give strong competition to Zoom, Google recently made it business videoconferencing service free for all users.

Initially, Google Meet had been reserved for subscribers to the premium G Suite software tools for businesses.

“Meet will be available to all users around the world, to enable people all walks of life to communicate collaborate and really stay in touch more effectively through the pandemic,” G Suite vice president Javier Soltaro told AFP.

The USP Google has brought in the market by making Meet free of cost is its security and reliability features. Compared to Google, Zoom has had trouble with security because of easy data hacking and harassment by individuals who crash sessions

People will need to create a free Google account to use the Meet app which will have a 60-minute time cap that will be enforced starting the end of September.

Google said free access will roll out gradually in the coming weeks.
