Nighat Dad and UK Based NGO Launch Anti Child Sexual Abuse Portal

Child abuse and particularly exploitation of children through pornography has grown at an alarmingly exponential rate in recent years. Albeit that the authorities have mostly remained helpless and numb of the gruesome reality; digital activist Nighat Dad has now taken the task to eradicate this menace.

Under a collaboration of Nighat’s Digital Rights Foundation and UK based Internet Watch Foundation, a portal has been setup to report sexual and pornographic imagery of minors under the age of 18. The portal, namely IWF Hotline, is said to be the basis for Pakistan to become a part of global portals working to end the distribution of child sex abuse images online.

Taking it to Twitter, Nighat announced the launch of the program that will also aid the law enforcement agencies in apprehending criminals and mafias active behind child pornography in the country.

“Very proud to announce soft launch of online child sexual abuse Pakistan portal in collaboration with @DigitalRightsPK & @IWFhotline. DRF will work with The Internet Watch Foundation to stop the distribution of #ChildSexualAbuse imagery online in #Pakistan,” said the activist.

In another tweet, Nighat also mentioned how the existing law regarding sexual abuse of children is unaccommodating as the implementation of the law is a problem in itself.
