Pakistan is set to launch communication satellite PAKSAT MM1 on Thursday, May 30.

After the successful launch of ‘iCube Qamar‘, Pakistan has prepared to send the modern communication satellite into space, crossing an important milestone in the journey towards Digital Pakistan.

The official announcement of the launch of Pakistan’s Multi-Mission Communication Satellite PAKSAT MM1 was made on Tuesday by the Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (Suparco) spokesperson.

The launch will take place from the XiChang Satellite Launch Centre (XSLC), China.

The launching ceremony will be shown live for media from its establishments in Karachi and Islamabad.

The Suparco scientists and engineers were examining the PAKSAT MM1, said the spokesperson adding that the project is part of the National Space Programme 2047.

With the mission’s successful completion, providing internet services in remote areas of Pakistan will not be a dream, as this satellite will provide broadband internet and TV broadcasting services.

According to the statement, the PAKSAT MM1 was conceived as a joint venture between Suparco and the Chinese aerospace industry, keeping in sight the country’s growing needs in the broad spectrum of communication and connectivity.

“This satellite project is a hallmark of technological cooperation between the People’s Republic of China and Pakistan,” the statement read.

Pakistan, so far, has sent at least six assets in space including BADR-A, BADR-B, PAKSAT 1-R, PRSS-1, PakTes 1-A and iCube Qamar.
