Spotify, Tiktok and other popular iOS apps went down because of Facebook issue

A bunch of popular apps including Spotify, TikTok, Tinder and Pinterest are facing technical issues on iOS — and Facebook appears to be to blame.

According to the details, the issues seem to have started around 6:30PM ET, and Spotify, TikTok, Pinterest, Tinder and more were affected, according to Downdetector.

The issue was caused by an apparent problem with a Facebook software development kit (SDK) tool that’s used to power sign-in features for many of the apps. Many developers have reported problems with the SDK in this thread on GitHub.

As reported by The Verge, Facebook had disabled a server configuration update that triggered its SDK to cause apps using it to crash. In the GitHub thread, a Facebook worker who is a contributor to Facebook’s code repository on Github said that the issue has since been fixed, but may take “a few minutes” to go into effect.

Howerver, the spokesperson of Facebook did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
