Huawei CFO Arrested in Canada, awaits extradition to the U.S.
Meng Wanzhou is Huawei’s Chief Financial Officer and the daughter of Huawei’s Founder Ren Zhengfei. She was arrested in Canada. The move was reportedly made at the request of the U.S Government, who is now seeking to extradite Meng to the U.S
Meng is allegedly accused of trying to work around the current U.S trade embargo on Iran. As Huawei has reportedly been under investigation by the U.S since April for shipping with parts made in U.S to countries that are under embargo, including Iran.
Official statements issued by Huawei claim that Meng and Huawei did not break any laws.
