Salman Khan’s Tiger 3 release banned in Kuwait, Qatar, and Oman over negative portrayal of Islamic countries

Salman Khan’s Tiger 3 release reportedly gets banned in Kuwait, Qatar, and Oman amid the negative portrayal of Islamic countries!

Though Tiger 3 starring Salman Khan, Katrina Kaif and Emraan Hashmi in the lead has become the highest-grossing release on Diwali in India, its release in the Middle Eastern countries is facing a ban due to the negative portrayal of Muslim characters.

The ban slapped on Tiger 3 in the Middle East countries might cause a loss in the film’s collection at the international box office.

According to the Firstpost report, “The Middle Eastern countries are little apprehensive to release the Maneesh Sharma directorial in their cinema halls due to its India-Pakistan narrative,” noting that the sequel deals with the protagonists “who land up in Pakistan and attempt to prevent the PM of the country from getting assassinated.”

According to the Times of India, the latest instalment of the spy-thriller franchises has played into Islamophobic tropes.

In the film, Emraan Hashmi walked into the shoes of a global terror group as its chief.

However, the outlet stressed that the rumours of the ban are yet to be confirmed.

On the other hand, some suggested that the ban on the film’s release could have been triggered by” Katrina Kaif’s fight scene in a towel.”

This is not the first time that a Bollywood film has been banned in any Middle Eastern country.

Last year in April, the Indian film Beast was banned in Kuwait and Qatar, after the film’s depictions of Muslims as terrorists and several dialogues that have been perceived to be against Pakistan.

In Jun-2022 another Indian film Samrat Prithviraj also received a ban in Kuwait and Oman, reportedly for “distorting history” and “hurting the sentiments” of the Muslim community.

This recently reported ban on Tiger 3 would hurt the flick’s business as the Gulf Cooperation Council attributed 25 to 30 per cent of Indian movies’ overseas trade.
