Anwar Maqsood, Pakistan’s iconic scriptwriter, host, satirist and humorist, on Sunday categorically dismissed reports of his abduction.
Reports claiming that Anwar Maqsood was abducted, tortured and threatened by unknown persons a few days ago have been doing rounds on social media lately.
However, that’s not the case.
Reacting to the viral reports, Anwar Maqsood said: “The news circulating on social media about me is baseless.”
Terming it “fake news”, the veteran writer urged his fans to turn a deaf ear to the “baseless” claims.
“I neither have any account on social media nor do I watch social media,” he added.
Anwar Maqsood told the news outlet that people had been calling him to tell him about the viral fake news doing rounds on social media.
“I not only deny all such news but also condemn those who spread such news without verification,” the noted scriptwriter added.
Here is how such baseless reports spread on social media, despite platform X not being accessible in Pakistan without a VPN.
