Bollywood Calls For Punishment of Pregnant Elephant’s Killers

Following the killing of a pregnant elephant in the Kerala state of India, many celebrities have come forward to demand punishments for the culprits and urged for stricter laws against animal cruelty in the country.

“This is why we need harsher laws against animal cruelty!!” wrote Anushka Sharma.

“We’ve failed; again! It pains me to see the way we‘ve been treating all elements of nature. When will these monsters realize that this planet belongs to everyone equally? We‘ve to learn to COEXIST! Let’s raise our voice against these acts of violence. This must end, or we’ll pay!” Shilpa Shetty Kundra tweeted.

“We keep searching for monsters hoping they would be having the devil’s horns on their heads. But look around you, the monsters walk beside you,” Shraddha Kapoor said on her social media.

“This is cruel beyond measure. When you lack empathy and kindness, you do not deserve to be called a human being. To hurt someone is not human. Just stricter laws won’t help. We need a decent execution of the law too,” Sui Dhaga actor Varun Dhawan expressed his anger.

Whereas actress Dia Mirza who is also an active member of wildlife India’s community, shared a petition to initiate criminal charges against those responsible for the killing of the elephant.

“Criminal charge against those who killed the pregnant elephant ·  I have signed this petition, I hope you will too,” tweeted Dia.

On May 23, a hungry, pregnant elephant wandered off in a small town of Kerala where she ate a pineapple filled with firecrackers. Deemed as an accident in the village where farmers protect their crops from being eaten with crackers filled fruits, the event has created a roar on social media with demands of justice against the cruelty.
